Our Class-A Truck Driver program (Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training) provides the optimal balance between classroom learning and on-the-road training to better prepare students for the CDL exam.
Truck drivers are responsible for delivering a wide range of items, from automobiles to canned foods. Companies across various industries depend on trucks for efficient pickup and delivery services, as no other mode of transportation offers the convenience of delivering goods door to door.
Basic Class A CDL training, 160 hours, includes classroom, range and road (automatic trucks only). Training is conducted by our training partner ANCORA.
State and federal regulations govern the qualifications and standards for truck drivers. Drivers of trucks designed to carry 26,000 pounds or more must obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) from the state of residence.
The CDL Training: Class A Truck Driver Training curriculum provides students with training to inspect and operate tractor-trailers and to assume driver responsibilities on the road and at pickup/delivery points. Emphasis is placed on vehicle inspections, defensive driving, range maneuvers, motor carrier safety regulations (DOT 380 -397 and a certificate for entry-level drivers), trip planning, cargo handlings, size/weight laws, general maintenance procedures, hours of service and accident prevention. All trucks used in training have automatic transmissions.
Visit ANCORA, our training partner, to begin the process. ANCORA will work with you to complete all requirements for class (DOT physical, Commercial Learner’s Permit, MVR, drug screen).
Greenville Tech Truck Driver Training: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Great experience. I was in the weekday Monday-Thursday class. I had a small class which was great. They give you step by step instruction on your pre trip inspection. And on the road training. Skills test involves parallel and driving straight then backing up. Put in the repetitive work and you’ll pass. Be verbal about what you need more training on, they will help you. Ask questions.
Experiencia fantástica: Great place to come to when you want to elevate and become a trucker. I started in September 2022 finished in October 2022 got my license early December 2022 because the school was working on getting a third party-tester, which was very inconvenient. The instructors were very informative and helpful. They allowed us to come on the range and practice as much as we wanted to before taking the drivers test. The school price is affordable. Its a lot of work that you have to do for yourself but at the end it’s well worth it
Experiencia fantástica: I attended the weekend class Aug 19-Oct 8. I had my exam Oct 12 passed first try. Mr. Dennis and Mr. Kevin are both very knowledgeable. They both give the tips and training in order for you to be successful. Always willing to help as long as you’re putting in the work as well. They both have different teaching styles but they get the job done, very patient, and make you feel comfortable. Would recommend this class and thank you!
Experiencia fantástica: Mr. Dennis, Mr. Kelvin, and Ms. Amanda all taught in a different way. You had 3 different ways to learn it and you could take a little from each and find your own path to learn. I’m very thankful for them. I would have to say though Mr. Kevin was by far my favorite. He definitely went beyond to make sure we got it. I passed my test the first time because of his drive for teaching. Mr. Kelvin thank you. I did get my endorsements like he told me to better my career path. I would recommend this school to everybody I meet, it wasn’t easy, but it’s easy if you listen and put in the work.
Experiencia positiva: Let me start by saying I did complete the course and obtained my Class A license. If you are looking for a school that will teach/train you to be a truck driver, this is not the school for you. They will teach you just enough to get your CDL Class A license. Ms. Tammy is a great asset to the team. She cares and knows how important it is for the students to succeed. She is very understanding and never raised her voice... which is rare in this industry. In my opinion and the opinion of some of my other classmates, she is the best asset on their team. Mr. Dennis, as stated in a previous review, the man knows his stuff! He may seem a little belligerent at times however, he means well. I was very impressed with the way Mr. Dennis was able to help us with the pre-trip and maneuvers. Those two instructors were one of the main reasons I was able to pass. I can't really speak on the other two instructors Mr. Stevens and Mr. Robinson due to the fact that I did not work with them much. I will say, Mr. Robinson tried to help but he made it as to where a lot of students were confused considering Mr. Dennis and Ms. Tammy instilled in us to follow the printout of the pre-trip. The instructors need to get on one accord and figure out what and how to teach the students the same lessons to lessen the confusion. When you have four different instructors telling/teaching you something different, it can get a little frustrating. On a positive note, Ms. Tammy and Mr. Dennis are great instructors.
Experiencia fantástica: I am so glad that I received an opportunity to take my CDL training through this school, because not only did I receive valuable knowledge on how to take control of the truck and utilize it to my advantage, bu I learned how to devour the challenges of parking through simple techniques/tricks shared by the more than 80 years of experience throughout the instructors. Ms. Tammy is an amazing instructor and she have a heart gold for the success of her students. She reminds me of that favorite aunt that everyone in the family loves. Mr. Dennis brings in his amazing talents that can take any challenge that a truck can bring and make it so simple that a baby can perform it. The northern accent and demeanor may seem intimidating at first, but one you get a chance to know him, you’ll always want him by your side. Mr. Kevin is that extremely cool teacher that everyone want to be a part of his class, because not only does he make you feel 100% at ease, but he possess a pleather of knowledge. Mr. Steve is the type of guy that you would want at every recruitment meeting, because he knows exactly what rock to overturn to help keep you from walking into a career that may not best fit your expectations, plus he has a mountain of knowledge when it comes to trucking. Last but definitely not least is Mr. Warren. This guy is the coolest director of what seemed to me to be a well-oiled organization. Even though he is in-charge if the program, he is ever present and available to assist wherever needed. I tip my hat to him, because I think that not only does it take a person of great talent to select an amazing staff such as the one that he hand selected, but it takes someone of great character to hold strict to the program’s outline while providing your staff with enough respect to want to come work for you without regret. I can’t speak on what happens before June 6, 2022 not the experiences that others may have met, but either something drastically changed in the staff’s roster or someone really got their stuff together. Personally, I would recommend this program to anyone, because my experience was amazing and this was echoed from the other 5 classmate that I was granted to share this experience.
Experiencia negativa: They never answer their phones there is not an easy way to get a hold of them.
Experiencia negativa: Unless you desperately need your CDL, you’re better off obtaining it at another school. This class was so unorganized, some of the instructors are super rude, and the class sizes are too big for what they can handle. Our first week on the range, there almost never was a truck available for us. You’ll spend a good 1/3 of the class just sitting in your car waiting. My instructor made it quite obvious that he didn’t like me and any question I asked him he made me feel like it was a stupid one and on multiple occasions the answers he gave us were flat wrong. This class only teaches you the bare minimum to pass the exam. Dennis was the lone bright spot in the program, the only reason I passed my exam the first try. Unless you can obtain full state funding for this class, I wouldn’t pay a dime out of pocket for it.
Experiencia negativa: After studying everyday, getting permit on first try, getting dot physical done while jumping through hoops, and even planning the classes that was chosen, I was told that another drug test will be needed to attend class. Passing is not the issue. The issue is 12 seats goes to whoever drug screen comes in first. So I wouldn't just bet on changing your lifestyle to attend the classes you pick. Just a waste of my time.
