April who I had primary contact with in regard to scheduling, was so prompt in responding and precise with the information she provided including which paperwork to have ready for the DPS. Hunter the instructor I specifically worked with was very friendly and provided so many skills and resources to help me be a good defensive driver. I really appreciate that he took the time to listen and understand my diagnosis as well as my thought process and continued to remain encouraging throughout. I would highly recommend their services!

They were so dedicated in how they communicated, always there to answer my calls and questions. They even helped get in touch with doctors and staff of Twc for my son's visual problem. He has a Eye disease, but thank God, he can drive. With this company's help was a real blessing.

Experiencia fantástica: I am so glad I got referred to Strowmatt by my physical therapy facility. Everyone at Strowmatt is nice and professional. Erin did my evaluation and was very nice and informative. April went out of her way to help me get everything situated so that I could schedule my driving training hours. Hunter was my driving instructor and he was a great instructor. He made me feel confident and comfortable in being able to drive with vehicle modifications. I was well prepared for the day when I had to take my DPS driver’s test and just knew it would go well because of him.

They assigned me Mr. Adam Mignery who is a highly skilled driving trainer and therapist who provided professional and personalized support. Upon my request, they arranged weekend training sessions and even secured funding for additional hours. Thanks to their dedication and support, I was able to obtain my driver’s license within 60 hours. I’m truly grateful for their commitment and assistance.

Experiencia fantástica: First and foremost the ENTIRE staff at Strowmatt Rehabilitation Services are 2nd to none. Very professional. From my initial evaluation to my road test with an officer at the Texas Department of Safety; Hunter ensured that I was trained properly using the left foot accelerator. I thought my CDL training covered everything, well I was wrong. 46 years of driving, your brain gets conditioned to drive a certain way. Hunter's method of training made my brain think a different way. We practiced and practiced different scenarios in every day Houston driving. Hunter was patient, kind and very helpful with suggestions that worked. Strowmatt Rehabilitation Services worked with me and my unique situation and schedule. Thank you so very much for helping me gain my independence back.

Experiencia negativa: I had a horrible experience with Strowmatt Rehabilitation Services (SRS). I do not recommend working with SRS. SRS requires all clients to complete a DPS driving assessment and their final “evaluation” is a receipt of completion of the DPS driving assessment. They provide no assessment or evaluation independent of the DPS driving assessment. I suffered two strokes 12/24. The office staff at SRS informed me that to protect themselves legally, they require all their clients to take a driving assessment with DPS even if the law or medical professionals do not require it. The 2nd appointment with SRS is to coach clients through the route for the DPS driving assessment and accompany them to the test. They advised me that completion of evaluation of SRS was contingent upon completion of the DPS assessment. None of this was communicated clearly in paperwork or phone calls prior to my appointment at SRS. I elected to proceed with the 1st appointment & not schedule a 2nd appointment. The encouragement to schedule a 2nd appointment happened prior to any assessment or evaluation by SRS staff. During vision assessment with OT Valerie Neira, I told her there was a problem with the vision testing equipment & I could not see anything in the right lens on the machine. She ignored my concern several times. I continued to advise her that I could see nothing through the right lens. After being notified at least 3 times, Ms. Neira looked down & realized she had blocked the right lens on the machine. I had to redo the tests already completed. The test results were skewed since I had already seen the images for those tests with one eye. During the entirety of my assessment period with Ms. Neira, she had access to results of tests from a neurological ophthalmologist. I was offered no alternative testing with different images. Ms. Neira did not exercise care or competency in her assessment. During the driving assessment, OTA Hunter Bozant talked the entire time. He gave two pointers for my driving, related to speed & stopping, since I went 4 mph over the posted speed limit & 1 stop could be considered a rolling stop. Mr. Bozant verbally informed me that all SRS clients are officially recommended to complete an additional four hours of driving coaching, regardless of the results of the driving evaluation at SRS. The assessment paperwork I received from SRS indicated the highest score possible with “minimal” prompting for improvement, yet still recommended four additional hours of driving coaching. The estimated cost for this additional coaching time was $720. I passed my DPS driving assessment. The “completed evaluation” that SRS sent back to me states that I completed the DPS evaluation and nothing more. UPDATE: I completed my DPS driving assessment on 5/12/25, SRS acknowledged completion of the assessment on May 14. Update 7/1/25: I submitted a complaint with the BBB. Mr. Strowmatt admitted, in writing, that my license was reported to the Medical Advisory Board of the DPS on 3/18/25. The contract I signed with SRS states that the recommendation was to complete & pass a comprehensive road test with the DPS within 6 months of my evaluation with SRS. My evaluation with SRS was completed on 3/10/25, which gave me until 9/10/25 to complete my DPS driving assessment. It was completed and passed in May 2025. Mr. Strowmatt wrote in his response to the BBB complaint that errors made by the OT on my vision assessment were intentionally omitted in the SRS evaluation. Mr. Strowmatt wrote, "Due to this mistake [by the occupational therapist] and Ms. Bouse questioning the validity of the test results, SRS elected to omit the outcome of this evaluation." What else does SRS omit from their records?

Experiencia fantástica: My teenage son worked with Strowmatt Rehab after suffering burns and an arm amputation. We found their OTs very caring, helpful, and informative. My son tried out various devices while driving in Houston traffic. They suggested a turn signal extension and techniques to help him be a safe driver. He practiced using their suggestions. They prepared him for his driver’s test and went to the DPS with us. We appreciated the help from Christine and Valerie. My son was so happy to obtain his drivers license yesterday.

Experiencia fantástica: As an insurance professional, I would say this rehabilitation center is very thorough. They were very clear that if you do not have provider clearance to drive, you are not allowed to drive. In fact, the instructor who gave me the demonstration was very thorough about that. He said that I do not want to hear a peep out of you. Meaning the doctor that sees you, that does the rehabilitation. Combined with all of the other doctors, they have to say that in your medical charts you are cleared to drive. If there is no clearance, you may not drive. State Farm will obviously deny you, and Geico will run away.

Experiencia fantástica: The specialist that helped me with my rehabilitation was named Erin. She was absolutely amazing, Patient, kind, and professional. The process was smooth and she really made me feel confident while training. After 3 years I was able to get in the drivers seat. With her help I was able to pass my DMV driving test. Thank you so much for a fantastic experience. I am now fully prepared to operate hand controls and feel safe while doing so. I really can not thank yall enough.

Experiencia fantástica: Christine Salinas, Occupational Therapist, was my evaluator and instructor for the past 5 weeks. It’s difficult to commit to writing how absolutely wonderful she was to work with. I’m almost 68 years old and since a stroke in early 2021 have been through an extraordinary series of healthcare issues, and I now live in a wheelchair full time. The idea that I find something to both look forward to and establish some independence was introduced to me by my care team at Rehab Without Walls (they are a whole 5-star review for another time). When I decided to give it a go, I reached out to Strowmatt for the application and learned quite a bit about resources to help people like me get started. I was accepted and Christine was assigned to me as my evaluator. She arrived at our home and was so courteous and accommodating she put me right at ease. After a 2-hour or so thorough cognitive evaluation she determined I had the ability to do this, and we took our first little test drive. I was very apprehensive, but her soothing manner put me at ease, and we set about 12-15 or so hours of learning how to drive a minivan, from a wheelchair, with hand controls. She introduced me to the various options along the way and found the right controls that would work for me. She was more like a wise friend, who kept me up when things felt difficult, and also coached me about how to be safe and confident behind the wheel again. She was my second biggest cheerleader (behind my wife), and was as excited as was I when we passed my driving test. I can and do enthusiastically endorse the team at Strowmatt, and Christine in particular, and thank them all for their help and support!

Experiencia fantástica: I was referred to Strowmatt by MD Anderson to get me back to driving. My instructor was Erin and she was extremely thorough and patient. After two 2-hour sessions with her to learn how to use hand controls and practice driving, making turns, and parallel parking, I felt very prepared to take my DMV driving test. Within 2 weeks of signing up for classes at Strowmatt I was driving again! They also provided me with a list of vendors who sell/install adaptive driving equipment and recommended to shop and compare which I did. I couldn't believe the variations in prices for hand controls. I'm so glad I took their advice as it saved me $1500.

Experiencia fantástica: Strowmatt was absolutely incredible! I appreciate everything they did for me. They answered all my questions thoroughly and gave me phenomenal resources. Hunter was a fantastic instructor and helped find the right equipment for me. Hunter would brainstorm ideas when a new symptom would crop up, we found the right equipment to decrease my pain and allow me to drive. This happened a couple of times, but he was patient and we came up with the best options for me. I am so grateful to Strowmatt and Hunter. Y'all gave me the confidence to drive again, the support I needed, and the opportunity to be more independent. Thank you so much for changing my life for the better!

Experiencia fantástica: I have a condition that doctors have not figured out. They sent me to Strowmatt to learn how to drive again. I was so blessed that I was put with Christine Salinas. She put me at ease while learning how to drive again after two years. We were having fun talking and listening to 80's music. There were a lot of times I thought I gave her whiplash. I was so worried about parallel parking, but she told me that she had way to be able to do it with no problem. The parallel parking was a breeze when I had to take my test to get my drivers license back. The day of my test the first thing I was told to was parallel park. The easy way she had shown me was easy. Little did I know she was hiding behind a to watch me. I looked in the my mirror and she was jumping for joy. She doesn't know how much she meant to me. She was awesome! She made feel confident and let me know that I would be able to after almost 2 years of being away from it. Anybody who gets her is going to be blessed. She is an amazing!!! I have nothing but love for her. She is just so amazing with how she guides you the driving process. I thank her for all she did, and an blessed to have gotten some of my independence back. Experiencia fantástica: When our son a little over a year ago had a massive stroke at age 37, many said he may never be able to get out of a wheelchair. Many also said he would most likely never be able to drive nor speak. Fast forward to today and not only is he walking unassisted, talking, he also has his independence in terms of being able to drive. The training, kindness, and expertise that you provided allowed him to earn his drivers license and Justin has a newfound level of hope that otherwise would be missing. Thank you.

Experiencia fantástica: THE BEST DRIVING SCHOOL OUT HERE!! i can’t even begin to explain to you how wonderful my experience was. I’m a visual impaired driver and driving has been a experience i never thought i would be able to have but strowmatt made a way for me. From the very beginning they have been so patient and helpful and supportive of me( even on the days i didn’t believe in myself) All the instructors are very wonderful, I worked with Christine and let me tell you guys and she had been so Amazing. From the very beginning she has pushed me to my fullest potential and made me realize i can do anything i put my mind too. Experiencia fantástica: The team here is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend them. They’re extremely kind and genuinely work hard towards helping you reach your goals and become successful. Both Adam and Christine are friendly, professional, and will do everything they can do make your rehab easier for you. They pay attention to your diagnosis and based off that try to make things go as smoothly as possible for you. I was a low-vision client as I am blind in my right eye and within the 20 hours I did with this center they helped me learn how to drive with my disability and I was able to pass my driving test on my first try! They also offer pick up services, so if you’re eligible for it, they will come to your residence and pick you up from home and drop you back. Thank you guys for everything you’ve done for me!

Adam is really good at what he does and everyone at Strowmatt is super supportive. I learned a lot about the road and a lot about myself and how my disability operates. Experiencia fantástica: I can’t even begin to tell you how Amazing Stromat has been for our visually impaired son. He’s was told by an eye dr, at the age of 15, that he would never drive. We found Stromat and said they’d do everything they could to help him become a safe, independent driver. After 3 years of training, therapies and other recommended training by Stromat we are proud to announce our son passed his driving test. He is now a licensed driver in TX. Thank you Stromat!!

Experiencia fantástica: I was referred to Strowmatt Rehabilitation by my opthalmologist at Neuro-Eye Houston. Adam Mignery (COTA) was very knowledgeable and thorough. He gave me great pointers to improve my driving style and technique to set me up for success. After completing the prescribed hours of therapy sessions, I re-took the Behind the Wheel Test at the DMV and passed with flying colors. If anyone is in need of Driving Rehabilitation Services in the greater Houston area, Strowmatt is the way to go.
