They worked with me everyday to make sure I understood everything. And shoutout to state examiner Robbie for being so cool. Experiencia positiva: Well people are wanting to get their CDL,and might want to try another school,because I had a bad experience over there…I keep failing the DMV Test I’m not saying it’s the teachers fault I’m just saying policy,and regulations of teaching could be a little bit better. Plus I have one more shot to take my permit test and if I feel they will drop me from the program.Not to say they have adults that act like children speaking in class as well people are trying to study.Good luck y’all!

Experiencia fantástica: I went to Coastal Truck Driving School on December 18th, 2019 without any semi tractor trailer driving, only tandem dump truck experience. I got my Class A permit and scheduled a test and tutoring day. I knew I was going to need help with backing up. Mr. Errol was on point with his knowledge, unfortunately me being nervous and impatient, I failed , but Tory never stopped encouraging me to come back. I went back today, January 6th, 2020, Mr. Marshall helped me with backing up again as the alley dock was my hangup. I passed, the instructors are there for you to succeed I have nothing but good things to say about this facility. Valerie was, the only person in the office I had contact with, she was very helpful and polite I would recommend Coastal to anybody.

Experiencia positiva: So let's start of by saying all of the instructor's I have had will go out of their way to help you in any way possible. The office staff, that's a whole new genre of rude. The only reason this gets 3 stars is because of the amazing instructor's. I wish I could rate them separately. They would have 5 stars. The staff inside, 0.

Experiencia negativa: Lynette can be nasty towards the clients. They have limited spots for testing you for your license. They are very knit picky when retesting the drivers. They need an attitude adjustment and competition for business.

Experiencia fantástica: Coastal Truck Driving School is a great school for anyone looking to obtain a commercial drivers license. Classes started on January 7, 2019. I am very grateful for the opportunities and support provided to me by staff members. “SPECIAL RECOGNITION” to my driving instructor Mr. Errol. Not only did he teach me everything that I needed to know in a short amount of time, but also he makes sure that his students never give up or settle for anything less than what they originally set out for when applying to attend the course.

Experiencia negativa: Warning!Do not go to this School,They talk a good Game,When they have your money they treat you badly.They do not teach you enough,They talk to you any way they want.When you ask to retest they want to charge you expensively.They are full of BS!!

Experiencia fantástica: I only did the "refresher" course, which is a 40 hour course of just truck driving, but I think this is a nice truck driving school. The refresher course is an intense 4 day course, 10 hours per day. You can only take it with your permit or old CDL, and for me, it was $2000.00. If you don't have a CDL your only option is to study and take the tests at the DMV to get your CDL learners permit and then take the refresher or take their full course at the school. I'd never driven a truck in my life and by the end of the 4 day refresher course I was able to pass the driving test on my first try. The cost of testing is included in the tuition for the refresher or the full course. The trucks are pretty beat up except for a couple, as they are used to train students. The instructors are really good and very passionate about you learning to drive safely, however, my only complaint is that instructors don't follow a set way to instruct you so while you might ride with one instructor one day and learn how to do something one way, the next day you get into a different truck with a different instructor and suddenly you have to "unlearn" that method and relearn the new method that he wants you to use. As a student, that's very stressful. They really should all sit down and decide on one way to instruct. Decide on one way to shift, one way to back, one way to drive, one way to do everything. That way no matter what instructor you get, you get the same instruction. That's how flight schools do it as the FAA makes them follow strict guidelines, but apparently the DOT isn't nearly as strict and only cares that the student coming out of the school is a safe driver. They will ensure that, but you might get taught 3 different ways to be a safe driver, and each way is incorrect to the next instructor. Stressful? You bet! And whatever you do, DON'T say the words, "Well, so-and-so taught me to do it like this." That will get you an ass chewing from the instructor that will last several minutes. That being said, their full course is about 5300 dollars and lasts a month. 160 hours in total, with each student actually driving the truck for about 10 hours by the end of the course. That's really all you need because once you get it, you got it. The instructor-student ratio for each truck is about 3-4 students to each instructor, depending on class size. All instructors there have at least 10 years of driving experience with most having 2-3 times that. They love to make jokes and keep things lively and fun, yet you still learn. I wish I could go through the refresher again just to pick up and learn things that I know I missed the first time. You won't regret going there, and they even have free job placement assistance. Give them a call and learn to drive a big rig!
