Virginia Western Community College offers opportunities for being licensed to ride 2-wheel motorcycles through the Basic Rider sessions as well as opportunities for licensed riders to hone skills through Experienced Rider sessions.

Virginia Western Community College offers opportunities for being certified to ride 2-wheel motorcycles through the Basic Rider sessions as well as opportunities for licensed riders to hone skills through Experienced Rider sessions. One-on-one tutoring is also available for beginners who wish an introduction or training on a motorcycle before attempting a class or to refresh skills.

1 CreditThis course provides classroom and actual motorcycle operator training in a controlled environment. Students will learn the basics, strategies to stay safe, and more.

Non-CreditThis course is scheduled by request and designed for the rider who is unsure if they are ready for the Basic Rider course or who has taken the beginner course but needs additional training.** This course is currently on hold **

Experiencia fantástica: Great class! Joe, Ben, and Kristen were our instructors and we couldn’t have asked for better. Each instructor was so focused on helping each rider feel comfortable and they made sure we was understanding each step. A lot of learning curves but with the help of our instructors our whole class was able to complete and pass this course. From not knowing anything nor ever riding a motorcycle to being able learn to ride safely and operate a motorcycle correctly. Highly recommend this course! Thank you guys for all you done for our class!

Experiencia negativa: This class is not for inexperience riders like it said it is. If you never rode before do not take the class.they expect you to already know how to ride and the course is fast paced,if you don’t understand they just move on.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience and learned a lot during my two-day course, which was led by Trevor and Joe. I felt the instructors took the time to coach you and gave positive encouragement a long the way. While my instructors were wonderful, I think I would have struggled if I never rode a bike before. In my opinion, it’s fast paced for a beginner course. I am not an experienced rider, but I was comfortable starting a bike, shifting and finding the friction zone, which was helpful.

Experiencia negativa: The course was great but the Trainers were awful. If you end up going please make sure you don’t have Mark or Karen. They don’t teach anything and complain all day long. The course is meant to help new riders. Imagine beings newbie and overhearing your trainers talk about how terrible you are. when we didn’t get things right they just moved to the next all because the wanted to leave. On both days we finished at 2pm and half the class failed.

Experiencia fantástica: Mark and Anil were great. Even with the hours I have under my belt it was great to go back to the basic fundamentals and worth it. I saw people who never rode a bike get through the class and operate in accordance with proper and safe riding abilities. A1 team there!!!
