Experiencia negativa: DO NOT GO HERE! Don’t waste your money on this garbage school. Took my son OVER 5 months to get his license because he had to fight for a spot in their schedule. That’s why they always have “openings”. Not only do you only have one day a week at a set time to schedule a drive time but if you want to do more than one driving lesson that week to have to log in on multiple devices otherwise you have to wait a whole week. After that nightmare of the scheduling he had to go to a 3rd party to do his driving test… oh but it gets better.. AFTER he passed his tests written and driving we get to the DMV to find out that A1 DIDN'T SUBMIT HIS DRIVE TIME!!!! They certainly didn’t help when I called to ask what was going on either. This place is absolute garbage!!!! Wasted my time and my money. Don’t waste yours!

Experiencia negativa: Horrific, unprofessional and unreliable scheduling system. You pay hundreds of dollars only to find out once it’s too late that there are around 3 drive times a week for 50 kids trying to schedule. They literally fill up in 30 seconds. Also the calendar system contains unnecessary “observation” appointments which makes it look like there are actual appointments to drive (which there aren’t) and observation hours are completely unnecessary for state licensing making them obsolete. Take them off the drive calendar where people are frantically trying to get a driving appointment! We will never use A-1 again! I urge you to find another option!!! Don’t waist hundreds of dollars and hours off your life!

Experiencia negativa: Their drive times are gone within 1 minute when they post them and then you have to wait another week. They don’t have enough drive times. And they are NOT customer oriented.

Experiencia negativa: The worst scheduling system! My daughter signed up and paid for driving lessons 3 months ago. Every week on Thursday you have to go online and refresh your screen until available drive times for the week pop up, then try to grab them before someone else gets the drive time. After 3 months we have only succeeded in scheduling 2 drive times. She paid for three 2-hour drives and it is virtually impossible to get a drive time. It’s like trying to your hands on the hottest concert ticket, except it’s a practice drive, and you’ve already paid. I have spoken to the lady who runs this and she acts like there’s nothing to do to change how drive times are scheduled. You should be able to find out when the next available drive is before you pay for lessons with this company. Once you pay, you should be able to schedule all of your drives. Don’t waste your time.

Experiencia fantástica: Great place to take traffic safety. The online course was very manageable for my 18 year old son. He completed the course in a few weeks. Super friendly staff that goes above and beyond for the clients. They have helped us out tremendously throughout his journey to get his drivers license in 5 weeks before he enters the Air Force. Highly recommend this place. Thank you to the A-1 staff for going above and beyond!!! Definitely worth every penny you pay to take drivers education through them :)

Experiencia fantástica: Randall & Daniel both are awesome instructors. I never drove on the road before taking classes. Randall taught me very well & on the 1st day I was able to drive in the road! Daniel taught me lot of tips & tricks. I never thought that I would pass the road test in first try. But to my disbelieve I have done it. Thanks Randall & Daniel !

Experiencia negativa: The class portion is great. The archaic booking for drives is unbelievable. You must be on within 1 minute (no exaggeration) to get the drives booked. Would not recommend

Experiencia fantástica: I never review on things but I love A1 driving school! As a student driver, I can say that Daniel and Bill are the most amazing driving instructors! (Daniel is my favorite, sorry Bill) Definitely recommend A1 driving school to others! I wouldn't have been able to get my license requirements as fast in a class! Very self-paced in the online program!

Experiencia negativa: Impossible to complete. They are so backed up with people needing to do their drives with an instructor that it has taken 4 weeks of trying and have only one done. We even tried to schedule at other locations but got stuck in traffic and there’s no one you can call to tell them you’ll be a few minutes late. So we got charged $60 for missing it. It has been one headache after another and there’s no end in site. My son needed his license by this weekend and now we have to cancel plans and try to sell concert tickets that we’ve had for almost a year. I’m furious to say the least.

Experiencia positiva: My son was able to get one driving session on a Tuesday and we were told that we needed to log on to the scheduling site that Thursday to schedule his next drive. It was emphasized the we had to be on right when the schedule opens because the slots get booked quickly. I took time away from work to sit and wait for the system to tell me that we couldn't even schedule until the following week. I called to see what the issue was and the individuals I spoke to were extremely condescending, rude, and unhelpful. Although I understood that they were telling me the system wouldn't allow any one to schedule more than one session in a seven-day period, they would not allow me to repeat the information we were previously given. The representative continued to interrupt and speak over me to the point that I had to raise my voice over them at which point they hung up on me. When I called back they continued to be very condescending and instead of finding a way to assist made very disrespectful comments and made assumptions about our situation that were absolutely inappropriate. I would appreciate if a manager or someone in authority would reach out to us to assist as the individual stated that no one else would be available to assist me. **UPDATE** After speaking with a manager and then being contacted by the manager of the location we're registered with, the individuals have been very attentive and validated our concerns. They have done what they can to assist and hopefully they don't have a representative treat another customer this way again.

Experiencia positiva: Daniel was my sons favorite. My son got a 90% on his written and after his 3 drives was told he was an excellent driver and was ready to take us driving test. After calling the DMV and finding out the next time to take his driving test was 3 months out A1 referred us to a woman in Ogden that could do tests. We went to Martha and it was very unprofessional and in a area I wasn’t comfortable with. She failed my son badly. I paid 60$ and got nothing other then her telling me he was nervous. DO NOT go through this woman

Experiencia negativa: Bill was being passive aggressive rude and weird he was being creepy calling the student driver that is female a good girl and said he loved her and cared about her when it was the first time meeting her just a overall bad and uncomfortable situation

Experiencia fantástica: Daniel was the name of the driver for my son and he absolutely loved it. The drives were awesome and super convenient. I’m so glad my son was able to get his license on his 16th birthday!

Experiencia negativa: This place is absolutely terrible. 1st off, They lie to PAYING customers. Then proceed to threaten the customer. They will trap you and give you no other options. Extremely unprofessional. I would not waste your time here to get your license, There are many better places.

Experiencia negativa: A1? More like subpar, below average, bamboozling even. Getting your license right when you turn 16 is every teenagers dream. This company has lied to several acquaintances that they would get their license on their 16th birthday. They are now threatening these paying customers, saying that if they try and finish getting their license elsewhere, they would destroy any documentation of previous drive times. I would complete my drive times with rose o’donnell before this company. Shame on them.

Experiencia negativa: Sad to see how they trap customers with a fake deal and then don’t let out of it and threaten you if you try to go somewhere else to get what they promised!

Experiencia negativa: Not enough available drives. I paid for my brother to take driver’s ed and he’ll be lucky to finish his three required drives this month. I checked the drive scheduler every hour on the day the drives were posted, somewhere in between hours an entire week’s worth of drives were scheduled. Would not recommend this school to anyone in the future!

Experiencia negativa: it is impossible to get drive time, i have been done with my written test for 3 months and i still have not been able to schedule one drive because they’re online thing sucks they say it updates every thursday but i have been on the website all morning and there’s been absolutely no updates

Experiencia negativa: The process to get drive times is crazy! Only 6-8 drive times available a week, and they are taken in less than 60 seconds. They need more driving instructors, cars and more drive times to accommodate the number of students. Or assign drive times instead of having people sit at their computers refreshing their screens trying to be fast enough and lucky enough to get one! SO CRAZY! I will not use A-1 again unless they improve this process.

Experiencia negativa: Avoid this place like the plague unless you're willing to wait a year for your kid to complete the course. Signing up for driving sessions is a joke because they have so few available.

Experiencia negativa: Worst driving school you could choose. The staff is unprofessional and ill prepared, we paid for the driving school only to complete it and still be unable to get our license. They never kept record of when I drove and they never submitted my completion of the school to the DLD. Never use A-1 driving school. They will only rob you and make a disgrace out of your efforts!!

Experiencia fantástica: I looked forward to going to A1 driving school every time I went because the instructor, Mitch, just made it so much fun. Mitch is the goofiest, funniest, most caring guy I’ve ever met and he made driver’s ed a fun class. I would strongly recommend A1 driving in Layton to anyone who doesn’t look forward to driver’s ed because Mitch will change that pretty quickly.

Experiencia positiva: Have been trying for over a month to schedule drives for my daughter. When she failed repeatedly to be able to schedule any drives, they just told me the only way to schedule is online. Now that high school has started up again the only times available to schedule were during school hours. Nothing came up outside of normal school ours at all. They took my money quickly enough, but are not providing the service they have already been paid for. Their only response is to try again next week. (Same response the last three times I talked to them.) EDIT: After leaving this message I got a call from them and was able to schedule 2 drives at the OGDEN location. Not the location 2 minutes away from our house. Oh well, at least she's getting some drives in now.

Experiencia negativa: I'm pretty sure they stole my money. I paid for 2 students back in Jun 18 and have been unable to schedule driving time or get a response from them either through email or phone.

Experiencia fantástica: A-1 Driving School, specifically in Layton, is easily the best drivers education course in northern Utah. Mitch is an amazing teacher and clearly cares for his students. His behind the wheel lessons are comprehensive and in depth fostering a new generation of safe drivers. His lessons aren't only able to be applied behind the wheel, but applied throughout life.

Experiencia fantástica: Mitch is the best driving instructor! He doesn’t get mad when you make a mistake and talks you through everything. I recommend a-1 in Layton 100% to anyone trying to get their license.

Experiencia negativa: I definitely learned a lot from the class, but when I was driving and made a mistake, the teacher yelled at me. It made me panic for the rest of the drive. He should know not to teach students that way.

Experiencia fantástica: Our experience with Mitch was excellent. Our son enjoyed driving with him. Mitch made the somewhat confusing and time consuming steps to having a new driver easy!
