Experiencia negativa: After paying $625 and the kids having to do 15 hours of it at home online and now class has ended and she has passed her written exam she still has not had any driving time. We were told during our orientation they would start reaching out to schedule, then we were told after the class ended 7-10 days they would schedule driving and it’s been 2 weeks and was just told 2 more weeks. It may be close and convenient but I would consider going elsewhere. They do not have enough drivers to handle their classes.

I choose Roy's for the convenience of this being right at my daughters school,and she would get her required hours before the start of her hockey season, even though it was more expensive than the other person I could have chosen. I will not ever use this company for my other children. My daughters class ended March 28, almost 2 months ago and she's had only 2 hours of driving. I have called several times. I have asked for my money back. I even got an email that the owner would be in on May 17 and the woman said she would make him up to speed on the situation. No communication what so ever. A driver contacted my daughter about driving the following Monday asking my daughters schedule, study halls etc. nothing since. The kicker is they have more classes scheduled and can't even get the hours in from 2 months ago. Think twice before choosing this company for your child's drivers education.

Experiencia negativa: I was less than impressed. I paid a lot of menu for my daughter to learn everything she needed to know about driving and the instructor spent EVERY class telling stories about his life. She left every class stressed because she hadn’t learned anything! Finally on the last day in the last hour he taught them a few things. I had to sit down and teach her everything. So what did I pay Roy’s $600 for? A couple hours of driving? I’m doing that now anyways. I would have kept my money had I known this was going to happen. Never again will I send a child there or recommend them to anyone!

Experiencia positiva: The driver was great to deal with from both the parent's and student's perspective. He communicated well, was professional and courteous, respectful and considerate. In contrast, the aspects that left us dealing with the more administrative end of the Driver Education were pretty dismal. Repeated delays, rescheduling, take it or leave it attitudes, we'll do what we want and you'll just have to keep up or you can go somewhere else approaches started to border on downright unprofessional and pathetic. If not for the professionalism the driver showed our rating of this experience would be 1-2 stars. Frankly, in the future I will first look elsewhere before considering going back to Roy's.

The examiner took me aside after administering the exam to mention how impressed he was with our boy’s confidence and attention to remaining constantly observant of changing conditions. Job well done, Roy’s!

Experiencia fantástica: My son recently completed drivers ed with Roy's Driver and Rider Education. Despite Covid, Roy's adapted to the needs and the classroom portion was mainly on line. He was then able to complete his driving hours with Dan L. He learned to safely drive a vehicle through this process. Dan was friendly and respectful to my son. He made sure my son was aware of the rules of the road, and he enforced safety at each driving session. He allowed my son to ask questions and answered them appropriately. Dan is a one of a kind person, able to relate to the parents as well as the teenage drivers. Thank you.

Dan Levasseur is an outstanding asset to their staff and was a huge help with our most recent daughter going for her road test. I would highly recommend Roy’s Driving School

Experiencia fantástica: My son had an amazing experience at Roy's Driving School. The owner Larry was so helpful and always there if we needed anything. We couldn't have asked also for a better driving instructor. Paul was very knowledgeable and so patient with my son while driving. I will definitely have my daughter go to Roy's when she goes for her permit in a couple years. Roy's is definitely the best driving school around and I recommend them to anyone.

Experiencia negativa: Extremely rude and disrespectful instructors who degrades their students if they need extra help. I have no problems with the drivers side because I dont know it but the riders course instructors are terrible and smell like onions.

Experiencia negativa: Would not recommend to no one at times very rude if you're not comfortable with something they'll tell you you are and that your fine even though you're not and then not clearly communicate certain details that need to be communicated like my speed wasn't fast enough but my speedometer said it was after the fact after the written test which is way after the rideing test they told me that I can't trust my speedometer so if I can't trust my speedometer how am I supposed to know over all horrible and I feel ripped off after paying $350 absolutely outrageous I failed my driving portion of the test due to the lack of communication and responsibilities on their end I mean one portion I messed up on my own and I take full responsibility for that but the rest of it was surely lack of communication

Experiencia negativa: My granddaughter just finished this course, as is required by law for her age in order to obtain her permit. She was taken on the road from Waldoboro to Rockland and back. There was no merging onto a highway, or a rotary taught. She was not even taught how to pull into a parking space in a parking lot. Having raised 4 drivers of my own, each of whom who attended driver’s education, I was stunned. Each of my kids were brought to Augusta to practice on rotaries, and to Portland and to Brunswick. When their training ended, we could see that they were prepared to safely take the wheel. My granddaughter easily obtained her permit, but is not ready for the road at all. When my daughter questioned the school’s owner about this, she was informed that “not everyone chooses to drive in those places”. Basically, she was forced to pay $500 for this school to do the absolute bare minimum for her daughter, yet claim they fulfilled their duty. There are far better driving schools available that I encourage people to look for and use. I will be calling the high school to complain about the affiliation with this one, along with my state legislators to start working on some mandates for driving schools to be held accountable by. There are far too many young lives lost due to car accidents, and lack of experience. I really have to wonder that if they were given better direction by the driving instructor, that perhaps the amount of youthful accidents would decrease.

Experiencia fantástica: I did the motorcycle Safety Foundation course with Tim as an instructor. I highly recommend this program as it not only gives you the chance to learn safe operation of a bike but also gives you the opportunity to walk away with a road test waver at the end so you can get your license. It cost me $300 and something for the class and it is more than worth the cost. Just do it ✔️

Experiencia fantástica: Keith helped our 15-year-old daughter drive and he did it was such calmness. she drives with confidence! we were very nervous going into the process but Roy’s driving Academy with Keith as her instructor has really made the process for everybody very relaxed with lots of confidence for the future thanks again Keith!

Experiencia fantástica: Really just the nicest people, super knowledgeable and committed to safety. I took the motorcycle basic Rider, with zero experience and walked away knowing how much more I had to learn, but with enough to know how to do so without developing bad habits. Really great.

Experiencia fantástica: I just went through the rider course on 10/20-21. The instructors were great and cared about our progression and understanding of the materials. I went in thinking I would just learn what was on the test but left feeling more confident on a bike and ready for the road.

Experiencia negativa: They TEACH your children how to speed down Gamage Ave which is a 25mph residential area

Experiencia fantástica: Just got my Moto license this past weekend. The instructors Larry and Kelly were awesome. They did a great job preparing us for both the written and riding exams. They were smart and friendly and made sure everyone understood the importance of riding safely. Everyone in our group of 11 students passed both tests. A great testament to both the school and the instructors. I highly recommend Roys Driving Academy.

Experiencia negativa: Went for a weekend to get my motorcycle license ended up leaving with a permit. I have a bunch of riding experience and spent $325 for a waste. The instructors were very rude and the street bikes they have are trash. A guy crashed his bike and left with his license. Place was a joke.

Experiencia negativa: Unorganized and completely disappointed! Didn't give my daughter her permit on time, because THEY didn't schedule driving time. Told us they would call to set up times never did, told us certain times then never made the appointment. Had to chase them down. The school blamed driving instructor but he didn't even know she existed as one of his driving students. The class was unruly and the teacher had no control over the students. They would constantly be loud,rude and putting their butts in ppls faces! Stealing food and on their cell phones. They were told they wouldn't drive until last but we're the first to drive. They were even told to leave severa classes but somehow let back to continue to disturb everyone else. Did not get what I paid for, They are not cheap They are the same as the others in the area. I will be contacting the BBB.
