Experiencia negativa: This was a very unpleasant, nerve wracking, and overall scary experience. Carmen is the only driving instructor this school has to offer so beware. From the moment we had our first meet, she was upset that I had my road test scheduled before I decided to take lessons with her. Carmen made it very apparent that she was frustrated with the fact that she would've had to teach me parallel parking on the first day, despite me mentioning that's what I wanted to focus on in general. She undermined me and my driving abilities off rip even though I'm 19 and have had my permit for two years and have driving experience. Carmen excessively grabbed the streering wheel even though I was perfectly set in my own lane, which is very wreckless seen as I could've easily freaked out and caused something major. She was very distracting with her constant chit chat about everything other than where I was supposed to be heading. Her directions were very vague and I had to keep asking her where she wanted me to go, instead of her taking initiative and telling me where she wants me to go. She even went as far as to try to show me a video on her phone while I was waiting at a red light at a major intersection. Once we pulled into a residential area, she had run me through how to parallel park, and while her method was very helpful, she had thrown way too much information at me at once and it resulted in me turning the wheel once too many times whilst backing up. When she heard the steering wheel "slam", she slammed on her set of brakes and got right into interrogating me about why that noise were to occur. She exclaimed that if I were to have only turned the wheel once, the wheel never would've locked and proceeded to ask me "Can you even count?" in the most condescending tone. We then got to a spot where I could do a K turn. As I pulled over, there was a tree branch hanging decently low from a tree. Carmen grabbed the wheel AGAIN and scolded me saying, "Do NOT hit my car with that branch!", meanwhile from my POV I was no where close to driving under it. The whole time she kept bragging about how she got her license when she graduated HS, has her CDL, and how her 5 hour course is WAY more informative than the ones you take online. (which I had taken mine online) She was a nervous wreck the entire time I was in the car with her. Which is understandable to a certain point. But it is not okay to keep interjecting yourself into situations that do not need interjecting. You can believe that I'm a decent driver, or not. But I can promise you that I was not bad enough to justify her constantly grabbing the wheel. Carmen is a very unprofessional individual and is not a good instructor for nervous drivers. Her body had a visceral reaction twice when I cracked my knuckles due my nerves being off the charts, and she yelled at me for doing it as if it was intentional. She also acted like she wanted a gold star for telling me where my right side view mirror should be facing during my road test. I recently found a new driving instructor who is 10x better than Carmen, and who has confidence that I can pass this test even with the short time frame I have until then. In one lesson with him, I learned so much more than I did during my one lesson at Marsal. Please believe me when I say that despite the good reviews this place might have, you will be wasting your money if you set up driving lessons with this school.

Experiencia negativa: I personally do not know how this woman has been doing this for so many years and is so bad at it. Marsal driving school only has one teacher and it’s Carmen, shes chaotic, condescending and unprofessional. This has been such a bad experience for a new, nervous driver. She is constantly trying to distract you, her eyes are barely on the road, she doesn’t teach you how to do anything, just tells you “drive here, turn there” doesn’t actually teach you how to properly do these things, it’s very dangerous. Her behavior on the road is completely unprofessional and aggressive. My fear for driving has grown since driving with her. Finding a new school immediately.

Experiencia negativa: Went for a single driving lesson and I thought it was fine. Its a small school with only one instructor. However, after, she didn't detail what I needed to work on or improve. I asked her to text me or call after and she did not. She required that I take another lesson for her to say. I did not want to pay another $65 for another lesson but I ended up doing so anyway. The instructor detailed some things I should work on after the lesson but it wasn't very helpful. Also, during the actually lesson itself, I found the instructor got very off topic with conversation. There was very little conversation revolving my actual driving. It was more like "turn here" "turn there", and no instruction on how to turn specifically (telling me what to look for or when to turn the wheel etc.) or how to do things in general. Overall, as much as I wanted to like the school. I wouldn't really recommend. Sorry.

Experiencia negativa: Taking a 5-hour road test course with Carmen was, without a doubt, the worst decision I've made. Her teaching methods are subpar, as she lacks the ability to provide constructive feedback on your mistakes. Carmen's teaching techniques leave much to be desired, and her attitude reeks of self-importance and arrogance. Her behavior towards students is consistently rude, humiliating, and unprofessional. On the day of my road test, Carmen's anger seemed to be off the charts for no apparent reason. Instead of offering support and encouragement to help boost my confidence, she repeatedly emphasized failure. She even took issue with my choice of clothing, which was entirely irrelevant to the situation. Felt a bit racist! The mental trauma she inflicted during the drive to the test site is difficult to put into words. Upon arriving at the test site, Carmen exploded in fury at a fellow test-taker who was waiting in line with his car's brake lights on. She made a point of informing the instructor that, had she been in their shoes, she would have immediately failed him. Her impatience and aggression were further demonstrated when she sneezed in the car and scolded me for not blessing her. Picture yourself about to take a critical test in just a few minutes, sitting beside such an impatient and hostile individual. It's hard to fathom the mental state you would be in. Even my husband's colleague's daughter opted to discontinue her lessons after just two classes due to Carmen's outrageous behavior, despite having paid for five I did not pass the road test, given the mental state I was in while giving the road test. On complaining to the front desk, they only offered a measly free driving session with the same person! I strongly advise against subjecting yourself to such an ordeal, and pick a driving school where the instructor cares about teaching you. If you read past reviews, there is a pattern of bad behavior that hasn't improved. Probably the good reviews on here are fake generated ones, so I wouldn't trust them.

Experiencia fantástica: Carmen was the best! She kept me calm and focused, and her pizza method helped me ace my drivers test. I paid for 5 lessons with the road test, and after the first lesson I had already felt more confident behind the wheel. I went into this not sure if I was ever going to be comfortable and confident enough to get my license, I definitely didn’t expect to pass on the first try. But Carmen made that possible! I’ll definitely be recommending anyone looking to learn!

Experiencia negativa: Avoid if you're a slow learner, or are very anxious and want a calm instructor. This one is intense, impatient, and I felt uncomfortable the entire lesson. I'm a new driver in my 30s, and Carmen continuously saying "it's time to drive!" and that I should've learned this a long time ago was condescending and unnecessary. She seemed more into chit chat and bragging about her life than actually teaching me. "I have a CDL so I can drive trucks!" "I'm famous for my parallel parking technique, you know. FAMOUS!" We weren't even practicing parking, so...? I had to regularly interrupt her to ask how I was doing, should I turn, etc. Whenever I made a mistake her response was that it's just common sense not to do that. It's her job to correct me, but implying a student lacks common sense does not really help or build confidence. At one point, she complained I was too rough on her car because I ran over potholes on 109. I could not wait to get outta that car and far away from her.

Experiencia fantástica: marsal is definitely the best driving school!! carmen is the best driving teacher i seriously could not have gotten luckier. i got my permit in january, started lessons in april, had about 5 lessons with carmen and then took my road test in august and i passed first try! the pizza technique that carmen taught me for parallel parking seriously helped me out so much, i only know how to parallel park because of carmen!!! this place is AMAZING and carmen is the best, funniest, and most helpful driving teacher ever!! thank you guys sm for all your help :) (also i did my 5 hour class through the driving school too!!)

Experiencia fantástica: I passed my test today !!!!!!! I started with Carmen as my instructor with 5 classes scheduled. As long as you use your common sense and she teaches you the 3 point way (K turn) and the parallel parking, that’s it, you got this. You will memorized that pizza pie technique lol. Carmen is so funny and nice, she talks to you while you are dying and nervous inside so she takes the pressure out of your brain. She has this technique of teaching you to be alert while you talking or listening. She corrects you while she is laughing and talking until you learn to relax and pay attention. Carmen I will never forget you. Thank you Marsal Driving school for this achievement in my life, for having such a great teacher.

Experiencia negativa: If you are an anxious or nervous driver....sorry you've come to the wrong place. The instructor I had was extremely impatient and severely exacerbated the anxiety I felt while driving. This culminated in our final lesson when she not only arrived late but also announced to me that she "was having a bad day". Once our lesson started, she became very impatient with how slow I was conducting maneuvers to the point of egging me on to go faster in a very condescending and unprofessional manner. I stopped the lesson right then and there because of how uncomfortable I felt being in the car. The instructor THEN went on to come to my doorstep and have a word with my parents. Horribly unprofessional, please do not waste your money here if you are looking for someone with patience and an encouraging attitude.

Experiencia negativa: My significant other a set of private lessons and encouraged her to take her road test well before she was ready. The instructor didn't pay attention or give feedback, the instructor played her cell phone during all the lessons when she should have been paying attention and providing feedback. Additionally I have had to reteach her multiple things she was taught completely incorrectly. Like where do you stop for a stop sign when there isn't a stop line or xrosswalk? NOT BEFORE THE SIGN BUT BEFORE YOU ENTER THE INTERSECTION.

Experiencia negativa: i suggest you do not see carman and so not sure why this is an approved driving school for DMV... 5 REASONS NOT TO GO TO GO TO MARSAL DRIVING SCHOOL First off, she helps me turn the wheel when im trying to make a right or left turn myself (switch lanes on the highway) or helps you move the wheel. Too much road rage from her is the second, waaaaayyy too rude. "you f*****g b****" when other people make wrong turns or cut her off. Very unprofessional on my road test telling the lady in front of us first in line of the road test "mind your f*****g buisness" Third, shes always quick to remind me of the pay in between the lesson constantly. I mean, they told me $48 a lesson for 45 min. it sounded cheaper than the others till it started eating my pocket. $90 for 90 min. untill last week i was told again for my last 2 lessons $45 for 45 min. I'm really not sure if that was a quick scam cause i am african american but again, i wouldn't be bias and say that even if it looks like it. talk about her personal life way too often and tries to put her nose in my personal life is the fourth Number 5, I only practiced U-Turns 2 times and did my road test I would absolutely not rate this and not worth the time to even call
